The Philadelphia Docorate Course
The Philadelphia Doctorate Course is a lecture series delivered by L. Ron Hubbard to 33 Auditors starting in December 1952 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
The sixty three lectures, plus eleven supplemental lectures, in addition to charts and graphs, parallel and expand on the material contained in the 1952 book Scientology 8-8008 (Infinity to zero and zero to Infinity), which is the "textbook" for the course.
Through the use of Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), which are advanced auditing processes sequentially devloped throughout 1952 into 1953,
Hubbard was mapping out an early route to Operating Thetan (OT).
At the onset of the lectures, SOP III was the recommended procedure. During the course, routines SOP IV AND V were developed, piloted, codified, and introduced as more efficient methods to be used in auditing at the time
. Refined for Pre-Clears and introduced to Student auditors, these would later become what would be known as the OT levels on the Scientology grade chart, though quite different modernday.
PURPOSE: To train a Pre-OT to be OT, what his/her potential is, and on how to reach that potential.
Prerequisites: The Student Hat Course
